The Seduction Hypothesis is Book 2 in The Science of Temptation series by Delphine Dryden. Reading this series in order is not required. Each of these books is a novella and Book 2 is around 97 pages.

I didn't love this novella but I just think it was not my kind of thing. It was set during a fan convention, similar to a comic con type of thing. I've not been to many conventions but dressing up in a costume and walking around all day doesn't sound like a ton of fun. Something like the San Diego Comic Con would be cool but I would just be going around groping everyone with a mask on in the hopes that I would be groping Brad Pitt or something like that. But this novella actually focuses on the comic part of comic con and well, that just doesn't do it for me.

Lindsey is our heroine and she was pretty great. I think a lot of people who read these kinds of books will identify with Lindsey. She reads this comic book called Balls N Chain and its a BDSM comic. I had no idea that BDSM comics were a thing but that's pretty cool! Anyways, Lindsey loves it and for the comic con, she's dressing up as one of the characters from the book. You can tell that Lindsey is hooked on this book and the reason is because she's become very interested in the BDSM lifestyle. She tried talking to her boyfriend about it but that didn't go so well and they've broken up. I really liked how Lindsey is realizing that she's become interested in this and that she's tried this round about way to bring it up to her boyfriend. I think that's how it would go in real life, right? So I enjoyed the realism of Lindsey's character.

Ben is Lindsey's ex and he's on this trip to the comic con with Lindsey and the group. He dismissed Lindsey when she talked about the BDSM comic because he figured that she'd be glad that he was against degrading women like that. Of course, he couldn't be more wrong and he starts to see that once the convention is in full swing. I never really bought Ben as a Dominant kind of guy so it was hard to really get into the characters' heads. I know it's not so great to say that since stereotypes are crap and awful to buy into but Ben felt like this computer nerd and I can't imagine a computer nerd being a hot Dom, you know? It's awful to admit but I'm just trying to tell you how I felt about the book. But I did like that Ben was finally willing to try some of the things that Lindsey was interested in. I think that he definitely deserved a second chance with Lindsey and it was nice that she gave it to him.

I don't know if I would be able to recommend this book. Although it was well written, I just found that I couldn't get into the characters and I couldn't get into the setting either. I think that someone who's really interested in comic cons and cosplay and all that may enjoy this book. The BDSM scenes were pretty hot but if you aren't rooting for the characters, what's the point? This was in no way a bad book but it just wasn't for me.
